Index Trading Weekly Update
Here is a sample of the last newsletter: SP500 Last Signal Comment ND100 Last Signal Comment DOW Last Signal Comment Special Option Strategy Update Economic Current Conditions Mr Greenspan tried to reassure investors this week about the continuation of the current economic growth. Time will tell if he is right. The employment situation in the US was weak in May with just 78,000 new jons created compared to 275,000 in april. The employment numbers keep coming in in some inconsistent way. In march we had only 140,000 jobs created which was considered weak. The SP500 PE ratio is at 19.40 which is considered low. Remember that when the last major economic cycle that started in march 2003 the PE ratio was at around 16. So we are at the low end. The markets are way from being overbought and we should not expect any major bear market for the time being. The last revised GDP for the first quarter of 2005 was at 3.5 just .1 away from expectations compared to the previous reading of 3.8. It starts to show a slight deceleration in the economic growth but nothing to worry at this point. Is Starting A Business For Me? What To Consider Before Starting A Business Do you have the right temperament?Starting a small business is one of the most serious decisions that a person can take in life. Positively, it often results in higher income levels than one could achieve as an employee together with the unique buzz of being your own boss but conversely it also can be stressful, will demand longer working hours and will probably reduce your ability to take long holidays. Super Rules, OK? Do you rule your superannuation or does it rule you? It's easy to fall for some myths about your super unless you do some clear thinking about who is in charge. Virtually all Australian employees now have a superannuation account, many have several, even more than they know about. Just Say NO to Your Stock Broker We have all heard that slogan that started back when Nancy Reagan was in Washington. It was all about drugs. A Gadfly On A Dinosaurs Butt, Or The Hood-winking Of The American Investor Have you ever noticed how some words in the English language are so perfectly named for what they describe? And how some words seem to be, I guess you could say, backwards? For instance, the word sunflower! How wonderfully aptly named is the sunflower, that beautiful yellow flower that follows the sun from sunrise to sunset. And then there are those words in the English language where there meaning appears to be backward, so to speak - like parkway and driveway. Expand Your Pool of Investors for Your Company If you own a company that sells complicated products and you want more investors, consider having topics on your web site that discuss the background needed to understand your products and your company. For example, if your company specializes in producing and researching monoclonal antibodies, post articles discussing exactly what monoclonal antibodies are, how they are produced and what research your company is engaged in. Gold; What Type of Gold to Buy JewelryThe advantages are:? Gold Jewelry is the easiest of the gold to buy and has the enjoyment of being able to be worn. The disadvantages are:? Find Your Investing Soulmate on the Jersey Turnpike As a followup to a previous column, "Irreconcilable Differences," I received an e-mail from a reader asking how she could ensure, ahead of time, investment compatibility with a future spouse.Unfortunately, like most issues in life, the direct approach does not work. Why Do You Want to Become a Online Trader? Motivational guru Tony Robbins teaches that the reason for doing something rates much higher than the methods you use to get the job done. In order to make your goal REAL, you need to attach severe, horrifying, intense and profound fear to failure. Overbought/Oversold Has your broker ever told you that a stock is "overbought" or "oversold"? He probably went on the explain that the stock you own (I hope you didn't) had gone down so far that it now was oversold and due for a rally. He might also have encouraged you to buy an equal amount to "dollar cost average" your position so that when ("if"- he didn't say that, I did)) it did go back up you could "get out even". Making Your Investment Dollars Work for You Investments are scary for some people, especially those who have never invested before. We grow up hearing horror stories about how this person or that person lost everything they had on some bad investment some odd years ago and it builds in us a fear of investing so profound that it is sometimes easier to get a confirmed agoraphobic to march in the Macy's Day Parade than it is to get someone to put a few dollars into stocks or mutual funds. Looking For a Safe Investment? Try a Certificate of Deposit If you are looking for a safe investment and you have between $100 -$1,000 to invest, you should consider a certificate of deposit or CD.
